Toot!

I just love it when I can brag about my friends…
Congratulations to Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company for their recent wins at this year’s Merritt Awards!!!

They scooped up outstanding supporting actress, outstanding costume design, and outstanding production for their amazing work on The Odyssey.

Also, my pals at Zuppa Circus walked away with Outstanding sound design/original score, and outstanding supporting actor for their mesmerizing work on Penny Dreadful. (By the way, they will be performing it again – March 13-15 at the Charlestown Working Theatre in Boston and March 19-21 at the North St. Church in Halifax.)

There’s still plenty of snow on the ground out here in my part of Nova Scotia, but today’s sun and warmth have me thinking toward summer and how wonderful it will be to work with the amazing artists that make up both of these companies. Last summer’s production of The Odyssey was truly something special. Not only was it inventive and fun, it was also what director Ken Schwartz likes to call, “Theatre Off the Grid.” You can learn more about the concept in the following video. Wonderful stuff!

What will we get when we combine my obsession with a 150-year-old Nova Scotian mystery and a theatre company’s dedication to telling tales off the grid?
I hope you’ll make your way out to Ross Creek and my part of the world this August to find out!

Here’s information on the dates for Two Planks’ 2008 season including: Our Town and Jerome: the Historical Spectacle
